Disfluency is a short film about the aftermath of rape.
Written and produced by a survivor of college sexual assault, this film gives an in depth look at how rape culture permeates our daily lives. We see this world through Jane's eyes.
It's not a unique story, but it's her story...
“When we use words as speech disfluencies, we diminish their intended impact,” her professor says. “We strip them of their meaning.”
Disfluency asks if we have done the same with sexual assault.
It suggests that it has become an expected, unnoticed interruption in our culture. The film represents the hope that this can change if allies can start to do something besides say “I’m sorry....”
